Daniel Irrazabal
Founder and Executive Director

DanielBorn in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Daniel studied Computer Science and Physical Education. His interest for television and knowledge of computers allowed him to open his own company in 1984 in Argentina, a company dedicated to the design and installation of cable television networks. His greatest accomplishment was to develop the first cable channel with its own programming, which allowed more than 950 homes to have access to TV signals.
In 1989, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada and began to work in the television and film industry, mainly in the Hispanic community. He was worked as cameraman and editor for short films and documentaries, and currently works as a producer and director of television commercials. Additionally, he is a freelance segment producer with a magazine Spanish language television show on TLN TV.
Daniel's objective has always been to promote his culture. In1994, he decided to gather a group of friends to watch films from Latin America. After three years, that small group grew to an overwhelming number of Hispanics who were interested in Latin American filmmaking. Consequently, in 1998 Daniel founded the now known "Toronto Hispano-American Film Festival." Since 2001, the festival has taken place
